Dr. Sathiya grew up in Canada, she recently moved to Johnson City with her husband for his residency training. Her keen interest in nutrition and wellness led her to conduct research in the field of nutrition. She is currently working with the faculty of ETSU college of public health focusing on mental health and obesity research. Her recent research projects include posters, abstracts, and publications with a focus on obesity and depression in women.
While in medical school, she founded a charitable organization to address the nutritional needs of underserved populations around the world, her charitable work extended to West Africa and Sri Lanka. She remains committed to rural medicine, including the Appalachian community. Her hobbies are traveling with her husband and trying different cuisines around the world, spending time with family, running, yoga, hiking, and spelunking.
